The Claims Process Can be Broken Down Into 7 Steps:
We would be happy to explain more about the insurance claim process, in detail. Give us a call.
It starts with a free inspection. Wind and Hail can damage a roof in a hurry, and lead to interior leaks that damage insulation, drywall, cabinets, flooring and more. Elite Roofers can help. Hail often strikes gutters and downspouts, even garage doors and siding. Having an experienced restoration contractor on your side can help prevent missing out on coverage you are entitled to under your insurance policy. If you suspect damage from strong winds or from hail, have a qualified professional from Elite Roofers perform a free inspection to help you decide on next steps. You might qualify for insurance roof replacement.
The insurance claims process usually pursues the following 7 step path, but each claim is unique. Before filing a claim, it's important to know the damage, know your policy, and know your options. At Elite Roofers, we make it easy, from claim to complete!
Step 1: Contractor's Inspection
Elite Roofers will inspect your roof and home for storm damage. Photo-documenting our findings, If we determine that hail, wind, wind driven rain, or a fallen tree has damaged your property we may recommend an insurance claim.
Step 2: Claim Filing
Got storm damage? The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) recommends you report damage to your insurance company. You can do this on your own, or Elite Roofers claims specialist or field representatives can assist you in filing your claim with date of loss and a list of types of damage assessed.
Step 3: Adjuster's Inspection
Once your claim number is assigned by your insurance carrier, an adjuster will be assigned to your claim and schedule their own inspection of your property. Elite Roofers can be there to assist your adjuster on-site. Hopefully the insurance adjuster agrees with you and us on what we are seeing.
Step 4: Insurance Scope of Work
Your insurance adjuster is responsible for delivering an initial scope of work along with their estimate for repairing the damages at your property. At Elite Roofers, we are very familiar with insurance documents and can help you navigate your adjuster's assessment and explain the insurance terminology and process.
Step 5: Contractor's Supplement
Our claims specialists will review your adjuster's initial scope of work and let your adjuster know what items, if any, they have missed. Often, there is a difference between the initial estimate and the final approved scope of work from the insurance. This gap is called a supplement. This is where Elite Roofers works to get you everything that should be covered.
Step 6: Contractor Performs Work
Once you, Elite Roofers, and your insurance company agree on a complete scope of work, Elite Roofers will perform all the agreed upon repairs of your damaged property. This commonly includes things like roofing, gutters/downspouts, window screens, fences, drywall, insulation, texture, paint, flooring, and/or plumbing. Each claim is unique.
Step 7: Invoice and Depreciation
When work has been completed, deductible has been paid by you to Elite Roofers, proof of both the work completion and payments made are submitted to your insurance company and they release any depreciation applicable to your claim.
Claim Process Complete!
When all the steps of the claims process have been completed and the depreciation and any supplements have been paid to Elite Roofers, you will receive receipts, certificate of completion, and applicable warranty packets. Your insurance company will close the claim and you may be eligible for discounts on your premiums if you had a new roof installed (ask your agent).
What if my claim is denied?
If you have damage, but your claim gets denied, you're not alone and you have options. TDI helps hold insurance companies accountable when claims are made in good faith and get denied. You may even hire a public adjuster or attorney. Elite Roofers is very familiar with the process and will stand by you the whole way.
Gutters get damaged in storms all the time. What most people don't know is that this damage is often covered by homeowners insurance. Have the team at Elite Roofers review your policy with you or for you and find out if the damage to your gutters should be covered or not.
If a Tornado, Hurricane, or other strong wind-storm knocks down your fence, breaks a few pickets or posts, that is something your homeowners insurance might cover. Every policy is different, and not all insurance carriers treat things the same way. Luckily, Elite Roofers has handled hundreds of claims and can work to get you the best outcome.
When a roof leak enters your attic, and begins to soak into insulation and drywall, it may require skilled interior restoration specialists to remove and replace the wet insulation and drywall, remove any impacted contents in the room, dry the moisture out, treat with mold and mildew inhibitor, tape and float the drywall and apply new texture and paint. Elite Roofers handles it all for you.
In addition to our on-site project managers and complete support team, Elite Roofers employs an insurance claims specialist that has experience and understanding of insurance estimating software, code requirements, water mitigation, restoration, and more. We work with all insurance carriers and keep our clients informed, every step of the way.
Water Damage on Your Ceiling
There could be a leak in your roof or plumbing, and we can help you identify the cause, and determine the scope of damages that need to be addressed.
Holes in Your Window Screens:
Hail damages more than just roofs. You can find holes in window screens, dents on downspouts, dented garage doors, spatter on fences and concrete, or broken garden gnomes.
Your Fence Lying Down:
A strong enough gust of wind can knock over a fence in an instant. Make sure to get photos or have an inspection done, before doing any repairs on your own.
Piece of Roof Shingle in Your Yard:
If you find a piece of roof shingles on the ground, it usually indicates that wind has torn it off the roof. If you find one in your yard, there are usually more wind damaged shingles on your roof.

Most people understand that nothing is free. However, many unsuspecting homeowners get lured into illegal contracts and commit insurance fraud without even realizing what's going on. If someone knocks on your door claiming they can get you a free roof, beware of the unforeseen consequences. Get more information at dontfraudmytexas.com
One thing that is important to ask about getting your deductible waived or covered by a contractor is, "Where does the money go?". If a contractor is willing to commit fraud, what other corners are they cutting to cover that lost revenue?
If you have a problem in the future, are they going to be around to stand behind their work? Don't take the risk, hire Elite Roofers to do it the right way.
