Whatever your goals for your new roof or roof repair, choosing the appropriate accessories can help your roof last longer, look better, and have overall improved performance. When getting a roof quote, some of the important accessories to look for are:

Proper attic ventilation is key to the longevity of your roof system. Not only that, but it also helps prevent moisture build-up in an otherwise humid attic space. With trained and certified attic ventilation professionals on staff, Elite Roofers can help you choose the right solution for venting your attic space. The intake is as important as the exhaust and the two should be in balance. And for attics that have been sealed with foam, there is not supposed to be any ventilation at all. As roofs and attics come in many different shapes and sizes, we refer to the applicable building codes and the instructions from the roofing materials manufacturers to ensure that we offer the appropriate solution for your home. This could mean:

A complete roof system requires underlayment to be installed between the roof deck and the shingles. Underlayment is water-resistant or waterproof and can be the difference between allowing water into your home or completely preventing a leak. Depending on your local climate, the correct underlayment may also be important for preventing leaks from ice and snow buildup on the roof. For East Texas, Houston and surrounding areas, the underlayment is particularly important for preventing leaks from wind driven rain. However, not all roofers install the same kinds of underlayment, and even when the proper underlayment is used, it may not be installed in all the right areas. Waterproofing underlayment (ice & water shield) is applied to the valleys, by almost all roofers. It is required by the manufacturer to have waterproofing underlayment installed along the rake walls, along the eaves, at any flashing, at any penetrations (pipes), and on low slopes (> 2:12 to < 4:12). Choosing the appropriate underlayment and installing it correctly easily saves homeowners from future leaks.
Depending on the area where you live, there may be different sizes and types of drip edge required for roof installation. Many builders neglect to install drip edge, if the local inspectors do not enforce drip edge as being required by building codes. Most roofing materials manufacturers do require drip edge along the eaves and rakes of the roof (the entire perimeter). In areas along the coast, the state of Texas requires that roofs be inspected by the Texas Department of Insurance in order to get a WPI-8 certificate, allowing homeowners to get windstorm insurance. At Elite Roofers, we install the 2" drip edge as a standard, with type DL used on any luxury roofs. 1.5" drip edge, while common on builder grade homes, is no longer up to code. Galvanized drip edge, while less expensive than pre-painted, is used by some roofers, but we prefer the baked enamel painted drip edge for durability and aesthetic appeal.
More info on Pipe Jack Boots coming soon.
Plastic Base Rubber Pipe Jack Boot
These are very common on builder grade and low cost roof replacements. The plastic does not handle heat as well as a metal base and we often receive calls from homeowners looking to replace this type of pipe jack. The rubber around the pipe also tends to wear out and lead to leaks, over time.
This is not something we install on any roof replacement.
Metal Base Rubber Pipe Jack Boot
The metal base is an improvement from the plastic base, but the rubber around the pipe is still not something we can recommend, as the problems we see with the rubber are prone to causing leaks.
This is not something we install on any roof replacement.
Lead Pipe Jack Boot
This is the most commonly installed pipe jack boot by professional roof replacement contractors. Known for its durability and versatility, the lead pipe jack boot tends to outlast and out perform other pipe jack boots. We install these on a majority of roof replacements, along with a coat of high-temperature resistant paint.

The Landmark Series has five different levels of shingles, Landmark, Landmark PRO, Landmark ClimateFlex, Landmark Solaris, and Landmark Premium. This page features Landmark Shingles. To see any of the others, simply follow the links provided.
Landmark, the standard in traditional architectural shingles, available in more colors than any other brand, and class 3 impact resistant.
Landmark PRO is the favorite shingle for many roofing contractors. A class 3 impact resistant shingle, it's extremely well made, with more sealant on the underside of each shingle, more asphalt and granules, making them heavier and sturdier than most traditional dimensional shingles and in Max Def colors giving them a bolder aesthetic appeal.
CertainTeed ClimateFlex impact resistant shingles are made with rubberized asphalt that helps to increase their ability to withstand the hard hitting hail that typically damages asphalt roof shingles. That's why insurance companies often offer discounts to homeowners who have this type of shingle installed. They are available in:
CertainTeed Landmark Solaris roofing shingles are designed for solar reflectivity, keeping your attic cooler in the following popular roof shingle colors:
Landmark Premium shingles are simply the finest among the Landmark series and all architectural roofing shingles. Landmark Premium is available in these colors:
Only available from a certified CertainTeed roofing company, SureStart™ PLUS enhanced warranties extend the non-pro-rated portion of the warranty on a CertainTeed Integrity Roof System™ and add other warranty benefits as well.
